We met An the way anyone should… drinking wine. Ironically, it was some time afterwards that we learned An was the owner of Atelier N and a talented jeweler. Elizabeth & I have been part of Duke for many years – as such, we were both familiar with the store peripherally, but our growing friendship with An now brought us finally through the door.

Our first piece was a ring designed to represent our lives in common and our shared path forward. Knowing full well a diamond was in our future, we opted for a sapphire to offer a nice twist and to insinuate at the Duke “blue” that brought us together. Yet, while the stone was left to carry the symbolic, the setting was the tasteful combination of simple, elegant, artistic, and versatile that we very much needed and wanted it to be. The ring could be formal, casual - and even one ring or two – yet beautiful in any of its chosen forms. It was a testament to An’s craftsmanship and eye.
