As lifelong jewelry and art lover, and a metalsmith student since I was 10, I wanted something very unique for my engagement ring. I became mesmerized with the gemstones by custom gem cutter Anna Gilbert and worked with her, trusting she would source a sapphire in the right size and color that would yield the freeform style we desired.

I wanted the stone to be the spectacular showstopper in a setting that would be very modern. Anna recommended an award-winning jeweler in Durham, NC. From looking at the Atelier N website, I immediately knew An could create exactly what I envisioned. We did everything remotely since I live in Pennsylvania. I emailed my dream designs, we had a few discussions over the phone, and before I knew it, my STUNNING ring was on its way to me.

Barry and I couldn’t be happier with the quality and beauty of An’s craftsmanship. He executed my vision perfectly and we are looking forward to collaborating again to create more lovely pieces.
